Dysport is a muscle relaxant that reduces muscle movement in the face. This smooths facial wrinkles that are making you appear older than you would like.
Dysport is injected into the facial muscle(s) that lie beneath the area of wrinkled skin. Starting a few days after Dysport injections, the muscle relaxes. This causes the overlying skin to relax as well. With the skin more smooth and relaxed, Dysport reduces expression lines for up to several months at a time.
There is no Dysport downtime. You can return to work, social activities, and shopping immediately after your Dysport appointment. There are almost no restrictions, although it is best to avoid rubbing the skin that was treated for several hours. Your injector at Zelko Aesthetics may recommend that you avoid lying down after Dysport. It’s best to avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours after the Dysport procedure.
Like Botox, Dysport takes a few days to start working. It needs time to activate within the targeted muscles. You may notice early Dysport results starting about 2 to 4 days after treatment. It takes up to two weeks to see the full results of Dysport treatment. Be patient, the changes are coming! Dysport lasts for approximately 3 months, however, this can vary.
Temporary and mild side effects after Dysport may include redness at the injection site, swelling, hardness, and tenderness. This does not indicate a problem. Symptoms will alleviate in minutes to hours after the procedure. If you notice any unusual side effects, contact our office immediately. Dysport is an FDA-cleared wrinkle treatment, so the risk of serious adverse effects is possible but exceedingly rare.
